PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION

Sign at least 60 management agreements for the implementation of the various tasks, covering a total of more than 5,000 hectares throughout the project implementation area.

Hold seven meetings of the project Steering Committee.

Acquire four hectares of land to demonstrate conservation measures.

  After-LIFE Plan.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION

IMPROVEMENT OF BREEDING AND FEEDING HABITAT CONDITIONS

Select the best seed varieties to cultivate: one to two varieties of each species tested.

Define a list of cereal seed varieties recommended for the habitat of Circus pygargus.

Sow the best seed varieties on at least 1,000 hectares.

Apply specific conservation measures on more than 2,000 hectares to improve habitat conditions.

IMPROVEMENT OF BREEDING AND FEEDING HABITAT CONDITIONS
Implement conservation measures to improve breeding and feeding habitats on agricultural land, covering at least 750 ha, and in scrubland, covering at least 435 ha.

Produce four technical reports with results to identify the best conservation measures to be implemented in each area.

Prepare a final report on the limiting factors affecting reproduction.

Create a Best Practices Manual for the conservation of Circus pygargus.

IMPROVING REPRODUCTIVE SUCCESS, MITIGATING THREATS AND REDUCING MORTALITY

Prepare a final report on the state of agriculture, planning and policy recommendations.

Create infographics on the challenges for the conservation of Circus pygargus.

Produce a final report on the analysis of habitat suitability for the species.

Apply specific conservation measures to at least 277 nests in critical nesting areas.

Protect more than 150 nests per year.

IMPROVING REPRODUCTIVE SUCCESS, MITIGATING THREATS AND REDUCING MORTALITY
Rescue at least 100 eggs and 20 chicks directly from nests each year.

Return approximately 80 individuals to the wild each year, using acclimatisation stations.

Ensure the survival of 50% of eggs and 50% of chicks rescued from threatened nests.

Create a technical and methodological guide to support rescue campaigns.

Produce a final report on the activities carried out during the project and recommendations for conservation plans.

Prepare annual reports on the rescue campaign, return of harriers and movements of tagged birds.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION

Tag with GPS and rings and monitor more than 250 individuals.

Prepare a final report assessing the project's impact on Circus pygargus populations, reproductive success, productivity, viability, mortality and factors affecting them.

Analyse 350 samples for the presence of contaminants.

Write a final report on the agronomic, economic and consumption impact on the Iberian market.

Produce a final report assessing the socio-economic impact of the project.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION

SUSTAINABILITY, REPLICATION AND EXPLOITATION OF RESULTS

Draw up a plan for exploiting the project results.

Draft a report with measures to promote the integration of the proposed management schemes into the AGRI-ENV schemes in Extremadura, Spain, and Portugal.

Draw up a National Action Plan for the conservation of Circus pygargus in Portugal.

Create a proposal for a Circus pygargus Conservation Plan in Extremadura.

SUSTAINABILITY, REPLICATION AND EXPLOITATION OF RESULTS
  Produce two animated videos.

Make a short documentary film about the project.

Reach at least 20,000 people with the project website and have a minimum of 600,000 impressions on social media in posts about the project.

Involve at least 200 participants in the ‘Friends of the Montagu's harrier’ network.

Hold 14 information/participation sessions/meetings to boost the cereal sector related to ‘friendly’ production for Circus pygargus.

Engage thousands of people belonging to key stakeholder groups involved in the conservation of Circus pygargus.

  Produce a Layman's Report.

Prepare a report with the results of the dissemination activities implemented.

Create sensitivity maps of the target species to renewable energy production infrastructure.
